About the Challenge

  1. The Maths in Motion Challenge has now become well established in the calendars of schools in 14 countries as a way of engaging children of all ages and abilities in an exciting and motivating mathematics based project. The software is suitable for all ages from 8 to 16. It is an ideal base for a primary school maths project, for a STEM based ‘transition years’ project or for general use with older students throughout secondary school. It is a Linked Scheme for the CREST Bronze Award.
  2. The Challenge involves students working together in small teams. These teams set up virtual racing cars and then compete against each other in a series of Grands Prix type races throughout the year in the hope of becoming World Champions. This activity involves a wide range of basic mathematical skills, some practical, being used and applied
  3. We are hoping to inspire youngsters to consider taking up careers in engineering. Young engineers are needed in a wide variety of industries throughout the World and we hope that in taking part in this challenge young people will ‘get interested’ enough to want to find out more.
